Finding the Moments That Define Your Event

Roseman Family Portraits

This family photo session is actually part of Ben's bar mitzvah package.  His mom told me they had never (!) had a professional session like this and wanted to do it.  I was both horrified (never??) and thrilled (yay!).  I know the Roseman's from our temple; our kids went to preschool there and are now all in Hebrew school. But I sort of knew them before I even met them.

When I was planning my Maryland wedding from Seattle, I was consumed with all things Martha Stewart Weddings.  A few months after my husband and I had made deposits and I had picked a dress, I came across Amy and Dave's wedding in the Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.  I immediately regretted everything we had planned and wanted to have the exact same wedding as the Rosemans.  Their wedding was front and center in my wedding planner and I even went on Ebay to see if I could find a gently used dress like hers (because I'd already bought my dress.  And two dresses weren't in the budget).

Fast forward several years and we met them for the first time with some mutual friends.  Someone (not Amy and Dave) brought up the fact that they were in the magazine and I completely flipped. I realized that my dream wedding couple was sitting across from me in a sushi restaurant and I couldn't stop talking about it.  Even now, 10 (?) years later, I'm telling the internet about it.

So needless to say I think Amy and Dave are the best and getting to know their sons, Ben and Jonah, was pretty great, too.  I loved that they were themselves which meant that silly and goofy came naturally but also that the close bond they all share was really evident.  So now they're not just my dream wedding couple but my dream family, too.
