Jacob's Bar Mitzvah

I love seeing new things when I photograph b'nai mitzvahs. Jacob's was the first one I've photographed, in almost 10 years, that didn't have assigned seats or even tables. Debbie and Hank wanted a casual atmosphere for the reception and Carin and her team at Events Extraordinaire pulled it off in a spectacular fashion. Instead of traditional round tables, there were several lounge areas set up where guests could sit and talk and eat and lounge and hang out. For someone like me who doesn't like to dance this was the perfect set up: guests could sit and chat if they didn't feel like dancing instead of being left sitting alone at their table. To say I loved it is an understatement.

Oh, and another first? Debbie is my first client to book me without meeting first; the first time we met was a couple of days before Jacob's bar mitzvah when we took the synagogue portraits. I knew from talking to her on the phone that she was relaxed and laid back but I found out that the rest of her family is, too, which made for an easy and fun photo session.

Thanks, Debbie, Hank, Jacob and Natalie - enjoy the sneak peek:
