morning light

i took these photos this morning around 7am when i got up and saw how gorgeous the light was.  i also figured the plows would come today and this would be the last of the untouched snow.

ha ha ha. not.

my friend emailed me this a few days ago when we got all the snow.  now, with another round of snow bearing down on us (really? REALLY?), i had to share it.  we are still snowed in at my house; they are supposed to have all the residential streets in our county plowed by tonight…

blizzard ‘10

i had every intention of bundling up, strapping on my new gaiters and heading out to take some photos of the epic snowfall this morning.

until i did it and realized the snow was past my knees.

so plan b is to sit inside, work on a puzzle and polish off every bottle of liquor in the house.

(did mention that jeff is currently in balmy miami to do “work” for the superbowl?  thank god my little brother happened to be in town visiting or i would be seriously up a creek.)

Young Adult Cancer Survivor Series

i’m so excited to be able to finally post about this project. i was contacted by The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults to do a series of photos of people involved with the fund who were either cancer survivors themselves or had lost loved ones to cancer. i jumped at the chance and the photos were revealed at an event on saturday night which marked the fund’s 12th anniversary.

these are the ones the folks at the fund chose to display:

and these are some others that i particularly liked:

holiday session :: maple lawn, md

another holiday session from back in october.  these two cracked me up; it was so easy to get them to make funny faces – this is my favorite spread from the session:

photo booth photos

i’m loving these new photo booth templates from design aglow.  i’ve yet to have use a photobooth setup with a client (but am hoping to introduce it to bnai mitzvah clients this year) but i do it with the kids a lot.  a photobooth set up is really just a white background with a large umbrella on a monolight.  the team over at the image is found pioneered this (or at least made it wildly popular in wedding photography circles) and they do it so well. on their site, click on ‘weddings’ and then ‘crazybooth’ to see their amazingly fun images.

another holiday session

these are the dipino kids – all four of them. this was a quick mini session back in november and the kids were great.  the (twin) boys were dreading it as almost all 7-year-old boys do but when they found out they could be silly and goof around they were all in.

(this one here?  she’s ten.  T-E-N.  tell me her parents aren’t going to beating boys away from their house)

holiday mini sessions

i’m finally getting around to posting images from my holiday sessions.  i don’t like to post these before the holidays because i don’t want to ruin anyone’s holiday cards by showing the images before their friends get to see them.

these images are from the greene family who are good friends; the girls are beautiful and their mom (who is an insanely talented interior designer) dressed them perfectly:
